It’s a momentous day! Finally prepping the livin It’s a momentous day! Finally prepping the living room and kitchen for new paint, new couches, and finally taking down the Christmas village…on Easter 🤦‍♀️
Reality hit hard this week after three full & fun Reality hit hard this week after three full & fun days in NYC! It was weird and wonderful not to be responsible for the tiniest details of life at home for a few days…and to finally have the Frozen soundtrack out of my head, if only briefly.

It’s going to be very beautiful there in a few weeks when spring explodes and all the flowers & trees are in bloom, and we got a nice preview.

When I built this play kitchen I was approximately When I built this play kitchen I was approximately 1 year pregnant with the baby 🤪 and it’s so satisfying to see them playing in it together now.
We did something a little crazy last week. So the We did something a little crazy last week. So the Mister wouldn’t miss the baby’s first birthday while he was at a conference in Boston, we packed up a couple carry-ons and a few personal items and all 4 boarded the plane!

The girls behaved as well as we could have asked for for both flights, and we all enjoyed exploring the city together outside of the conference hours. The girls and I are used to spending a lot of Mama-daughter time together at home during the work week while the Mister commutes, so it was fun (and challenging, in a small un-baby-proofed city apartment!) to have a change of scenery for the a few days.

We visited a chocolate factory, the aquarium, had lunch at Quincy Market, rode many T trains, walked a LOT around our neighborhood in Cambridge, pretended to be city kids for a couple hours at the nearby playground, and of course, celebrated the little one’s birthday.

It was cold and rainy (and even snowed some!), girls were tired due to the travel and the time change, the apartment didn’t come with a crib or high chair so we had to travel with those (and managed to do it with only the carry-ons!). There were so many little challenges planning for the trip that I initially adamantly refused to pack us up and go, but eventually the Mister wore me down (and listened to all 112 of my concerns) and we figured out solutions to all of them. Sure, it’s hard to travel with kids, but lots of things are hard with kids! It would have been easier to stay at home, but I’m so glad we went. Even more special- the 3-year-old is at an age where she’s likely to remember this trip. ✈️
