Four months later, and two months longer than inte Four months later, and two months longer than intended…the girls’ pink bathroom is finally done! We’ve been using it all along but I wrapped up the last few touches in January and am so excited to have another finished - and colorful - space in our house! The builders’ beige & brown theme is slowly but surely going away 🎈(see the before in stories 😬)
Their stockings were hung on the Christmas tree wi Their stockings were hung on the Christmas tree with care…because they had a 1-year old. 😀 It’s been 15 Christmases since our wedding and 5 since we became parents and it’s the first one we’ve been able to hang up stockings, even in this unique way. After several abandoned attempts to stitch up family stockings over the years, first for just the two of us, and later for the girls too, I finally just printed off a pattern and knocked them out over the course of a week. Feels so good to finally have our own special handmade stockings!
Bought these countertops on my brother’s birthda Bought these countertops on my brother’s birthday back in October…fast forward to my birthday 2 months and 4 days later and they are installed and ready for Elmo to have a bath! I’ve switched gears to Christmas sewing projects for December so reattaching the trim and touching up the paint will be the first tasks of 2023!! #oneroomchallenge

There’s still more work to do in this space, but There’s still more work to do in this space, but in addition to looking amazing it’s also functional so I’m taking a break for a few weeks. I’m mulling over the curtain situation for now, and my hands are achy from holding the paintbrush & screwdriver. New counters will be installed in December, and after that I can finish installing the board & batten and finish all the other small tasks (see current story)! Until then, I’m switching gears to stitch up some little nightgowns, finally finish our stockings (…15 years later!), and diy a mouse doll house! 🎅🏻🧵
If you don’t look carefully, you might think thi If you don’t look carefully, you might think this amazing bathroom project is done! If you do look carefully, you can find all the unfinished bits and pieces - I challenge you to count them and leave your guess in the comments! Later on I’ll point them all out (and the ones not pictured) in my stories. 🫣

Like so many other rooms in this house, this bathroom transformed from brown & boring to fun & colorful in (approximately) 8 weeks, thanks to the @oneroomchallenge. This is the sixth space I’ve ORC’d in this house after completing three in our old house (one of which was so bad it took 2 ORCs to finish!), making it my 10th - and I think I only completed one of them “on time”!

I’ll wrap up a few small items this week to make the room fully useable and after the new marble counters are installed in December, I’ll add the battens around the counter and finish up the remaining fun to-do items. I love seeing the changes that have been living in my head become a reality, and I’m so excited to see the rest of the pieces fall into place (hopefully not literally) to complete the transformation.

Click #oneroomchallenge or #orcat to check out hundreds of other amazing transformations. As always, thanks to @oneroomchallenge and @apartmenttherapy for hosting this fun event and giving me the motivation to make my ideas into reality!
Turns out, the souvenir shirt I picked up in the D Turns out, the souvenir shirt I picked up in the Detroit airport when I was 18 is the perfect painting shirt for a 4-year-old. 🤪 Also- it’s REALLY challenging to control where the paint goes when a wild animal (or that same 4-year-old!) is hanging off the end of the paint roller! 🐅 🦓 🦒 And while I was apprehensive about having a young and enthusiastic helper, no voices were raised or harsh words were spoken and only a little paint went where it wasn’t supposed to go, so it was a success!
But even after 2 full coats, I can still see a good bit of the beige through the pink, so it’s on to coat 3 - solo this time - so not as much fun but a little bit quicker!
Is it really week 7 of the One Room Challenge?! So Is it really week 7 of the One Room Challenge?! So much progress made and so much left to make.

Battens & trim 90% installed (just leaving the parts that can’t be installed around the vanity until after the counters are replaced), caulk 88% complete, paint prep 75% complete, and cutting in 10% complete. New hardware installed (will have to be removed to paint), vanity lights painted, and giant builder’s mirror removed. All percentages are completely made up but probably roughly correct. 😃

Planning to roll on the first coat of Cupcake Pink tomorrow and complete as much additional painting as I can this week. I’m super excited to see the girls’ reaction to the pink; they’re vaguely aware that I’m going to paint it but I think they need to see it to believe it!

I found out it’s likely the counters won’t be installed until late December 😩 so my final reveal at the end of the ORC next week will just be “as done as possible.” Click #oneroomchallenge to check the progress on hundreds of other projects from across the globe!
